Website design for desktop and mobile

Redesign of the Dolphins Plus Bayside responsive mobile site for the gift shop. The objective is to have an intuitive way for users to navigate the gift shop page for various souvenirs and unique gifts. Priority having a clean and organized site with a good structure of inventory.

Overview

 

The Problem

The Dolphins Plus gift shop website is unorganized, unstructured, and under-stocked. By redesigning, the website will better highlight the unique, one-of-a-kind gifts they have to offer and increased revenue and the user feels it’s part of the Dolphins Plus main website.

 

Research and Results

During User Testing we found:

  • Users loved the dolphin paintings, but they were not featured well

  •  Out of stock items cause frustrations

  • Categories could have better structure & labels

A closer look

 

Brainstorming

It all begins with finding the common theme in the feedback. The main changes that needed to be done first, better navigation, highlight dolphin’s paintings, organize categories.

Navigation Restructure

The original navigation was vague and it seemed that the items weren’t placed in their property categories. Items could only be found under “shop all” then we got really specific and created a category for everything. We decided would have too few items for each section, from there we eliminated some categories.



Final Navigation

We came up with the final revision, simple and easy to use while providing the user with enough categories to find what they were looking for.
